Visit to Giron's Farm
12th Jun 2026
Children from our Senior Room walked to Giron's Farm for a wonderful horticultural experience on Friday, 12th June.
The children were welcomed to the farm by Martha and Matt. They had such a wonderful experience learning about sustainable organic farming and the use of solar panels to support their farm. We also learned about microgreens, edible flowers, herbs - which they got to feel and touch, seasonal vegetables including corn, potatoes, cabbages, lettuce, carrots, onions and pumpkins. Matt gave a demo of the parts of a bee hive and we got to see Sligo's first vineyard. To top it all off the children each got to plant their own spinach which they are excited to have taken home to grow. A truly amazing day out with lots of learning on our door step. We wish Martha and Matt the very best of luck with their venture and thank them for the wonderful experience the children from Cloonloo N.S. had today. Their website is www.gironsfarm.ie if others would like to experience this wonderful farm for themselves.
