Green School Committee
In the School Year 2024/2025, it was decided that four Committees would be established and their meeting would run concurrently. The four committees were (1) The Green School Committee, (2) The Active School Committee (3) Amber Flag Committee and (4) The Student Council.
All pupils from First Class to Sixth Class would be on one of the committees, with a representative from each class on every committee (if possible). At the beginning of the year, children order from 1 to 4, which committee they would like to be part of for the coming year and based on these preferences, members for the four committees are chosen.
A member of staff would also serve on each committee – Ms. Jordan, as Green School Coordinator on the Green School Committee, Ms. Savage on the Active School Committee, Ms. Conlan/Mr. Keegan on the Amber Flag Committee and Ms. Surlis, the Principal on the Student Council.
Our Green School Committee consists of 6 children and 1 adult. The committees change each year.
Children on the Green School Committee have roles as Chairperson and Secretary. The Chairperson ensures the meeting agenda is followed. The secretary is responsible for recording the minutes of the meeting.
Green School Meeting are usually held once a month prior to the School Assembly. The Green School meetings update everybody on what has been done and decide on future events and actions. At the school assembly, Green School decisions and/or information is shared with all the children. The children not directly involved on the committee have an input and share their ideas at these assemblies.
Information is also displayed on the Green School Notice Board which is located in a prominent position in the hallway. We also use Aladdin and the School Website to circulate information to the wider community.
